Meta Platforms shares rose on Monday, with Reuters putting the gain at 3.2% as communication services was one of the S&P 500's strongest sectors. GuruFocus, in a piece carried by Yahoo Finance, linked early gains to new data on its Muse AI assistant.

The data

More than 30% of Muse users returned to the app seven days after their first visit, according to venture capitalist Deedy Das, who cited Sensor Tower data in a post on X (GuruFocus via Yahoo Finance). Das's figures put 14-day retention at 22%, behind ChatGPT over the same period. Sensor Tower estimated Muse drew 2.8 million global downloads in its first two weeks, against 3.7 million for ChatGPT.

Meta launched Muse in September. The Wall Street Journal noted, in a piece carried by Morningstar, that travel stocks including Booking Holdings, Expedia and Airbnb fell sharply when Meta launched Muse. Early app data is a snapshot, and it comes from third-party estimates, not from Meta.
